Behind the front glass sit 96 N-type i-TOPCon Ultra cells. They run at up to 23.7% efficiency and hold their output better as the roof heats up, which is the part that shows on a power bill through the summer months.

Who Is This Product For?

  • Roofs where the usable area runs out before the budget does. Hips, vents, and skylights break a roof into short runs, and a higher-output module lets each of those runs carry more capacity than it otherwise would.

How many Trina panels do I need, and will they fit my roof?

Fourteen panels get you 6.65kW, which sits right on the popular 6.6kW mark. Each panel is 1762 x 1134mm, so it covers almost exactly 2m², and fourteen of them need roughly 28m² of unshaded roof before you allow for rail spacing and edge setbacks. The 475W rating is doing real work here. Reaching the same 6.65kW on 400W panels would take 17 panels instead of 14.

How do Trina panels handle heat and storm loads?

That is what the dual glass construction is for. Both sheets are heat-strengthened rather than plain glass, the panel is rated to a 5400Pa front load, and the junction box is IP68. On heat, the number to look at is the temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C. Panels always lose a little output as they warm past 25°C, and a lower coefficient means you lose less of it. Trina rates the panel to operate from -40°C up to +70°C.

Can I add these to a solar panel system I already have?

Often, but it is a design job rather than a shopping one. Panels wired into the same string need to be the same model, so an expansion normally goes on its own string, feeding a spare tracker input on the inverter. That only works if your inverter has the headroom to begin with. Your network connection approval also caps total system size, and adding capacity usually means a fresh application. Is the warranty 25 years or 30 years?

Both, and they cover different things. The 25-year product warranty covers the panel itself, so manufacturing faults, delamination, and frame or junction box failures. The 30-year performance warranty covers what it produces, against the published degradation curve of 1% in year one and 0.4% each year after. A panel can be perfectly intact and still fall short on output, which is why the two are written separately.

Does the solar rebate apply to these panels?

Not to a panel bought on its own. Small-scale technology certificates are calculated on an installed system rather than on individual hardware, so a single module over the counter does not attract any. Claiming them needs a Clean Energy Council-accredited installer to sign the job off, which is why Volteam holds that accreditation alongside QLD Electrical License #72286. The certificate value is deducted from the installed price up front, so it arrives as a smaller invoice rather than as money you chase afterwards. How much it comes to moves with the size of the array and with the year, because the certificate count steps down annually until the scheme ends.

Why is the install price different from the panel price?

Because three things sit behind the panel, and none of them appears on a product page. Panel count is the biggest lever, then the inverter, then the roof itself. Tile is slower to work than tin, a second storey needs more access gear, and a switchboard upgrade is the cost that surprises people most often. Those variables are why a quote gets written against your address rather than read off a shelf. The panel is the part you can settle today.

Which inverter and connectors do these work with?

Any inverter rated for a 1500V DC string, which covers the residential range we install. String length is set by your inverter’s voltage window and the coldest morning your roof will see, so it gets designed rather than guessed. The panel ships with Stäubli EVO2 connectors already fitted to 4.0mm² cable, with the full part numbers listed in the specifications above, and the maximum series fuse rating is 25A.
