Frequently Asked Questions
How to register a Tesla Wall Connector?
You can register your Tesla Wall Connector via the Tesla app. Simply follow these steps:
- Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
- Select ‘Add Product’.
- From your Quickstart Guide, you will see in-app steps for scanning your Wall Connector or the EV charger’s QR code. A prompt then appears asking you to join the Wall Connector’s WiFi network, which you’ll need to accept.
- Once connected to your WiFi, complete registration by doing the remaining in-app steps . By registering, you can see real-time charging status and get the latest software updates.
Can a Tesla Wall Connector charge other cars?
Yes, a Tesla Wall Connector can charge other non-Tesla EVs as long as the car uses the Type 2 connector. Fortunately, the Type 2 connector is the standard AC plug type for EVS in Australia today, making this less of an issue. When it comes to charging other cars, it’s important to note that charging speeds vary by vehicle and available power supply.
What to do when you can't connect to the Tesla Wall Connector?
First, check your WiFi connection to ensure that your Wall Connector is properly connected to the internet. If it’s not an internet-related issue, you can troubleshoot your Tesla Wall Connector by signing in to your Tesla account and performing initial troubleshooting steps. You can also check your Tesla app for any pending updates as any latest update could resolve the issue.
As with any other devices, resetting might also help, so turn off the power supply to the Wall Connector from your main electrical panel, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. You can also check if the problem is physically-triggered, such visible damage, loose connections, or exposed wires. If none of the above resolves the issue, contact Tesla support or a certified electrician for a definite diagnosis.
How long does a Tesla Wall Connector take to charge?
Your Tesla will take anywhere between six and 12 hours to fully charge with a Wall Connector, depending on the charger’s power output, the EV’s model, and the battery size.
How long is the Tesla Wall Connector cable?
The Tesla Wall Connector includes a cable that’s 7.3 metres long.
How much does a Tesla Wall Connector cost?
Buying a Tesla Wall Connector in Australia means shelling out approximately $750 to $850, exclusive of installation. The cost of a separate installation can range from $750 to $1,500. Pricing can vary depending on the retailer. Most retailers will also include installation and other associated services for a total upfront cost of around $1,500 to $2,400.
