A Home EV Charger That Reaches Where You Park

Charge your electric car at home, overnight, on the charger Tesla designed for the job.

The Gen 3 Wall Connector is Tesla’s own home charger, with an extra-long 7.3m cable. This makes all the difference when parking your electric car. You can park where you want to, not necessarily next to the charger! The Tesla charger cable covers a double garage, a carport, and most driveways without you reversing to a mark on the concrete every night.

Plus, a Wall Connector saves you money, since you won’t have to pay an electrician to do any separate work.

Works With All Electric Car Makes And Models

The handle is standard Type 2, so it isn’t Tesla-only. Every electric car sold new in Australia uses that same fitting, so a Volvo, a Polestar, a Kia, or a BYD charges from this unit exactly the way a Tesla does. If you change cars in a few years, the charger on the wall will still fit.

Tesla isn’t the only brand we install. The Myenergi Zappi and the Fronius Wattpilot sit alongside it in our EV charger range, so you can see how they compare before you commit.

Installed by Licensed Contractors

Volteam can install your new Tesla Gen 3 wall connector if you live in the wider Brisbane area.

We check what your switchboard can take before you buy, and confirm whether single phase or three phase gives you more. The charger is handed over commissioned and ready to use.

Browse the rest of our range on the EV charger installation page, or pair the charger with solar panels and charge on daytime sun instead of grid power.

Key Features

  • Residual current detection, Type A plus DC 6mA. Detection of DC fault current is built into the charger, so your board does not need the more expensive protective device an EV circuit would otherwise call for.
  • No ventilation requirement. It can go into a closed garage, a store, or a cupboard without an air path designed around it.
  • Firmware delivered over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Improvements reach the unit on their own, so the charger you own in three years is not frozen on the version that shipped in the box.
  • 6.8kg including the wirebox, at 345 x 155 x 110mm. It goes onto a stud or masonry wall without any structural work behind it.

The wirebox mounts and gets wired before the charger goes onto it, so the unit itself is never left hanging exposed through the rest of the job.

Who Is This Product For?

  • Drivers of a Polestar, BYD, Kia, or Volvo. Every EV on sale here takes the same Type 2 handle, so the badge on the bonnet makes no difference to how it charges.
  • Households buying a second EV in a year or two. Group Power Management lets a second Wall Connector share the same circuit, so the car you haven’t bought yet won’t cost you a switchboard upgrade.
  • Drivers who park outdoors or under a carport. The enclosure is sealed and impact rated for weather and knocks, so an open driveway or a carport post is as valid a position as a garage wall.
  • Solar households charging on daytime generation. Put the car on charge while the panels are producing and you’re topping up on your own power instead of buying it back at night.
  • Anyone still running a lead to a normal powerpoint. An output of up to 32A turns an overnight trickle into a full charge you stop thinking about.

Excellent quality and fast delivery. The product met all expectations and works perfectly as described.

Kimberley

Great purchase! High-quality materials, carefully packaged, and overall very satisfied with the service.

Will it charge a car that isn’t a Tesla?

Yes. The Type 2 fitting is what every EV sold new in Australia uses, so a Kia, Volvo, BYD, or Polestar plugs straight in and charges the same way a Tesla does. What’s Tesla-only is the app integration, not the charging.

How fast will it actually charge my car?

That depends on your car as much as the charger. The Wall Connector delivers up to 32A, but every EV has its own limit on how fast it will accept a charge, and Tesla notes that some of its own vehicles draw less than the maximum. The supply into your house sets the ceiling too, and the heavier one gives you more. Either way it’ll cover a normal day’s driving overnight. We’ll confirm what your place can support before you buy.

Can I install the Wall Connector myself?

No, and it isn’t a grey area. It needs its own branch circuit and dedicated breaker wired into your switchboard, which is licensed electrical work in Queensland. Tesla also rules out adapters and extension leads entirely. Doing it yourself voids the warranty and fails an insurance claim.

Will it survive on an outside wall?

Yes. It’s IP55 and IK08 rated, and Tesla specifically says it doesn’t need caulking. Mount it between 0.6m and 1.52m off the ground outdoors. Around 1.15m is the comfortable height for handling the cable.

What happens if I get a second EV later?

Group Power Management handles it. A second Wall Connector shares the same circuit and the two split the available power automatically, so you don’t need a switchboard upgrade just to add a car. Worth mentioning at quote stage, because it’s cheaper to allow for the cable run now.

What does it cost to install?

The unit is a fixed price, and the install varies with the distance from your switchboard, whether you’re single or three phase, and whether the board has a spare way. A short run in a modern home is straightforward. A long run to a detached garage costs more. We quote the whole job up front, so there’s no surprise on the invoice.
